I’m not a fan of shopping, or getting my nails done. I loathe having to make a hair appointment, and I don’t enjoy going out to eat. But camping makes me happy. Why? Really I’m not sure. Everything is a challenge, and your uncomfortable majority of the time. But to wake up with the sun, and watch the new day come alive there is something spiritual about it. To be forced to work together for every single task makes for a strong family, and the way it teaches my children that they are capable and they can do hard things makes them all very confident. During our down time we don’t sit in opposite rooms and stare at glowing screens, rather we sit by a glowing fire and talk. We went for a four day camping trip to Fort Richardson State Park for spring break. When we arrived it was 90 degrees, and when we left it was in the 30’s. Experiencing so many extremes in weather in just four days made for a very interesting week. We hiked, fished, climbed, caught tadpoles and spent a ton of time by the fire! I’m already planning our next trip because life is better outside!
