Being a mom of four life is crazy. So I totally understand. Kids get sick, sometimes you leave the house without your purse or even wearing the same shoes. I'm lucky I remember to put on pants before I leave the house. I think this is one of the reason some of my mom's book me. They know I get it. Half of the time I'm running in survival mode, specially this time of year. Which is why when Melanie's family session had to be rescheduled a couple of times due to illness I didn't bat an eye. Melanie is also a mom of four and I know that when one kid gets sick they can just spread the germs to everyone in the family... flu season is awesome isn't it. Melanie booked me for her family portrait session in August, We finally got to hold her session the end of September. Which actually turned out fantastic due to the temperature being 20 degree's cooler. We all know its hot in Texas. BUT the sunsets about an hour earlier at the end of September than it does the beginning of August. Well somewhere in between our communication of rescheduling, and timing, and where to hold the session.. our times got mixed up. I thought I told her we needed to start at six, and the last correspondence she had from me said 6:30... oh boy. I dont like to admit it but about once a year I make mistakes. So I'm good till January =) When we started our session we only had half an hour of sunlight. At her pre session consult where we designed her session. The plan was to get family portraits, then portraits of just the boys down by the creek, and then have the girls change into my gorgeous gowns to get portraits of them. Now all of this needed to be done in 30 minutes or less! Whew! We didn't waste any time.. I posed the sweet family and started to dance and sing and be silly..Immediately capture some perfect family portraits. Then I darted to the creek and Melanie took the girls to change I never moved this fast! I was sprinting from one side of the park to the other making sure I covered everything we spoke about at her consult.. and I did it! I successfully photographed a large family of six, got individuals of each child.. had a wardrobe change in less than 30 minutes! My heart felt like it was going to explode because of all the cardio but it was worth every single drop of sweat to get all these amazing family portraits. The best part about my job is showing the images to my clients. It brought me so much gratification hearing how much Melanie loved her images. She ordered a Metal wall display and I cannot wait to see how it looks on her walls!
